A Winter Weather advisory and wind chill advisory has been issued for the Stateline tonight. If you are traveling, be extra cautious.

The National Weather Service (NWS) is warning travelers, especially those traveling out in the country or on rural roads, that travel may be very hazardous. We are not expecting any new snow, but the snow that fell over the weekend remains and may be blowing onto roadways.

It will be a one two punch. Blowing snow followed by extreme cold. According to the NWS

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM CST THIS EVENING FOR BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW IN OPEN AREAS...
...WIND CHILL ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 9 PM THIS EVENING TO 10 AM CST THURSDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN CHICAGO HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW IN OPEN
AREAS...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM CST THIS EVENING.

 

* WIND CHILL VALUES...15 BELOW TO 30 BELOW WITH LOWEST READINGS NORTH OF INTERSTATE 80.

* BLOWING SNOW...BLOWING SNOW IN OPEN AREAS WILL RESULT IN REDUCED VISIBILITIES AND PREVIOUSLY CLEARED ROADS BECOMING DRIFTED OVER WITH NEW SNOW.

* OTHER IMPACTS...FROSTBITE CAN OCCUR ON EXPOSED SKIN IN AS LITTLE AS 30 MINUTES. AVOID PROLONGED TIME OUTDOORS IF POSSIBLE.
