We Need To Talk About The New Turn Lanes at Spring Creek and Highcrest

Are you one of the lucky ones who has to travel up and down Spring Creek between 251 and El Rancho Road each day? Yeah, me too. Lucky us.

How do you think the construction is going so far? Maybe I'm being overly optimistic here, but I think it's coming along quite nicely...and I said that with no sarcasm.

Well, let me take that back, it was coming along nicely until a friend of mine pointed out this major design flaw with the new turn lanes that were just painted at the intersection of Spring Creek and Highcrest; one of the worst intersections in town IMO.

Do you notice what's wrong with this picture?

For as long as most people in Rockford can remember, the right turn lane on Highcrest has always been three ways, with the left lane always meant for people turning left (obviously). Now, everyone is piling up in the left lane to head towards 251, with some people waiting as long as 20 minutes just to get through the intersection. **Insert face palm emoji here.**

Have you experienced this traffic nightmare yet?

Hopefully the plan is to change it back to the way it was; but if it's not, maybe enough people will complain until it does.
