Typically, I'm not a huge fan of road trips, but that all changes in the fall thanks to these three things.

Changing leaves.
Seasonal attractions like apple orchards and pumpkin patches.
Knowing that warm weather will soon disappear in Illinois.

My family has fall traditions that must happen every year, but we're also always on the lookout for new places to see and experience. Thanks to Volo Museum, I just found something new to add to this year's fall to-do list... if I'm brave enough.

New Paranormal Walking Tour at Volo Museum

If you've never been to Volo Museum in Volo, Illinois before, what are you waiting for?

Volo Museum has something for everyone to enjoy including a dinosaur park, a huge selection of classic cars and movie vehicles, a Titanic exhibit, animatronic shows, trains, boats, and apparently, ghosts.

Volo Museum Has A Haunted Reputation

I didn't know until today that the Volo property has reportedly been the subject of paranormal stories for decades.

In 2009, the Volo Museum property was featured in an episode of Discovery Channel's Ghost Lab where investigators captured a mysterious "shadow man" on film.

So, yeah. If you're looking for a place where you can say, "Well, at least this building has some history," Volo definitely qualifies.

What Happens On The New Paranormal Tour?

Volo Museum's new Paranormal Walking Tour features a guided trolley tour through paranormal hotspots, a visit to the historic Volo Cemetery, and take visitors into a 177-year-old barn filled with paranormal evidence.

And that's when things get even more interesting.

Once the guided portion is over, you get to investigate for yourself using your phone and QR-code clues found throughout the Antique Mall. You can revisit designated hotspots throughout the grounds and investigate at your own pace until the museum closes.

Paranormal Ghost Tour Schedule

Volo Museum's Paranormal Walking Tours are running each Saturday and Sunday through November 1, 2026, with tours beginning at 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.

The guided portion lasts approximately 30 to 45 minutes, and the paranormal tour costs just $5 with museum admission or a combo pass. There are only 25 seats per time slot, so advance reservations are recommended. Reserve your spot here, and happy hunting!
