The story behind today's Pet of the Week really hit me hard in the heartstrings.

After 12 years in a home, she was recently surrendered to Winnebago County Animal Services.

I know things happen and life changes quickly, but I can never imagine loving a pet for 12 years and then giving me them up. I would fight a decision like that tooth and nail, but I understand many families try, but simply do not have any other options.

My soapbox is not the point of this article though, getting sweet Angelina a home is.

According to Amber Pinnon, Adoption and Volunteer Program Coordinator at Winnebago County Animal Services;

Meet Angelina! This pretty 12 year old lady was surrendered to WCAS due to her family moving not being able to take her with. Angelina has a fancy haircut because when she first came in she was so matted we had to give her a new do!  She is now searching for her new furr-ever home.  She is an all-around sweetheart who just needs some time to adjust to her new surroundings. She likes her alone time and can easily entertain herself with a comfy bed and a toy or two. However, when she wants to cuddle, she will cuddle you for hours. She can be a little shy with new people, but once she gets to know you, she warms right up. Angelina greatly enjoys being groomed, pet, and chilling on your lap. Does she sound like a good fit for you?

Due to her age, sweet Angelina is a member of Winnebago County Animal Services' "Golden Whiskers" club. This means her adoption fee is discounted thanks to the WCAS Volunteer Auxiliary. To find out how to adopt Angelina today, please go to wcasrock.org.
