 The Importance of Adopting

Animal shelters and rescues all throughout Illinois typically have one main problem in common: more animals coming in than going out.

As someone who has brought more than one shelter pup into my home over the years, I can tell you firsthand that adopting a shelter pet is not just a feel-good decision…it’s a life-changing one.

There is something incredibly special about walking into a kennel, locking eyes with a dog is used to being overlooked, and realizing you can be their happy ever after. Shelter dogs don’t care how big your house is, or how much money you have. They just want safety, love, and a home to call their own.

Adopting saves lives in more ways than one. When you bring a dog home, you’re freeing up space for another animal in need. And right now, that space is desperately needed at Winnebago County Animal Services in Rockford.

Discounted Dog Adoptions at Winnebago County Animal Services

Last week, Winnebago County Animal Services only adopted out two dogs, but they took in many more than that. The shelter's cages are full, and they desperately need adopters, so from now (2/26) through Saturday, February 28, they will be offering discounted dog adoption fees of just $50.

Can you really look at those adorable faces and say still say no? I certainly can't! Fifty dollars is a small price to pay for years of tail wags, unconditional love, and a best friend who thinks you are the greatest human on the planet.

Interested adopters can fill out applications in advance at winnebagoanimals.org.
