This Illinois city, about an hour from Rockford, is celebrating it's first ever Burgerfest and you're invited.

If you love burgers then this is something you don't want to miss.

The Daily Herald shares that next Saturday, August 11th, from 2pm - 10pm in Carpenter's Park, all are welcome to come enjoy specialty burgers all made from local restaurants and bars.

It's a way to get the community involved all the while "[giving] chefs and restaurateurs an opportunity to show off their masterpieces."

"Village President John Skillman said the fest will involve more than a dozen restaurants" from around the area. This festival is one way to help change or "revamp their image a bit" and to let "let their residents and other towns know that they do fun things."

Well to be honest if a festival involves food , that usually will do the trick. Americans do love to eat.

The festival will grant "special accolades [and gives awards] to two burgers: One chosen by attendees, and the other selected by a panel of celebrity judges. The celebrity judges "include Olympic figure skater Bradie Tennell; Marcus Robinson, a former wide receiver for the Chicago Bears."

Admission is free to attend and each visitor to the festival will receive "four wooden tokens to place in the jars of whichever vendors they believe had the best burgers."

They're will be live entertainment, a raffle and other options for food "such as fries or corn on the cob.

Also, a beer garden will be available for those who purchase alcohol wristbands for $1 each. The best part is that "proceeds [from the event ]will go toward FISH and District 300 food pantries."
