Brittany Maynard, who resides in the state of Oregon, has exactly 26 days to live and has a story she wants to share.

Brittany knows this, because she has chosen November 1st as her day to die. She chose the date so that she can pass away, peacefully and painlessly, in her own home. She will be surrounded by her mother, and her loving husband. She chose November 1st for her death because her husband's birthday is on October 30, and she wants to celebrate with him.

Brittany, along with her family lives in the state of Oregon, because it is only one of the only five U.S. states that allow assisted suicide.

The Refinery29 website reports that soon after Brittany was married last year, she began experiencing debilitating, unexplained headaches.

On January 1, 2014, while on vacation with her husband, Brittany was diagnosed with a grade II astrocytoma — a severe brain tumor that doctors predicted would allow Brittany at most 10 years to live.

In the video,  Brittany says "I have to tell you, when you’re 29 years old, being told you have that kind of timeline still feels like being told you’re going to die tomorrow."

Sadly, a few months later, Brittany went in for a post-op MRI and was informed that she had a "grade change". Her prognosis was now "Grade 4", which was the most aggressive form of brain cancer. So Brittany went from being told she had years to live to only having six months left.

Brittany's doctors told her that her death would be slow and painful as her tumor grew — a worsening progression of headaches, nausea, vomiting, weakness, and seizures.

"There is not a cell in my body that is suicidal or that wants to die," Maynard told People.com. "I want to live. I wish there was a cure for my disease but there's not. … Being able to choose to go with dignity is less terrifying."

Brittany is spending her final days traveling and being with her family. Her husband and mother support her decision and are accompanying her on trips.

Please keep Brittany and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
