Summer is the perfect time to go to the zoo, and it's even more perfect when there's a brand new baby zebra to check out.

If you're taking a trip to Chicago this summer, a stop at the Lincoln Park Zoo is a great idea. There are tons of animals, plenty of space to walk around, it's free to get in, and this summer, there's a brand new zebra to check out.

For the first time since 2012, there's a newborn zebra at the Lincoln Park Zoo. She doesn't have a name yet, but she's still super adorable.

The baby zebra, a foal, was born last Saturday morning, June 18. Well probably, here's the thing, Friday when the animal caretakers said good night to the animals, there was no baby zebra, but at 7a.m. Saturday morning, there she was.

You'd think someone would hear a zebra giving birth at the zoo, but it doesn't seem like anyone did.

This zebra is a Grevy Zebra, which is an endangered species. The Lincoln Park Zoo participates in the Grevy's Zebra Species Survival Plan, so this new zebra birth is extra special.
