On Monday RPS 205 parents had to make one of the toughest decisions of their life; choosing between in-person classes or remote learning for their kids this fall.

To some this decision might have been easy, but for many it was agonizing.

Over the last few days I have spoke to several friends and parents who are STRUGGLING making this choice. I have heard thoughts like;

"I feel like I am choosing between my kid's physical and mental health"

"I feel like I am sacrificing one child for another"

"I feel like I am choosing my one son's health over my other son's education"

Hearing thoughts like this is absolutely heartbreaking. How can this be our life right now?!?

As soon as RPS 205 published their Back-to-School Survey, I immediately jumped on and chose in-person learning for my oldest daughter. Every since last Thursday I have felt regret and second-guessed my decision.

In my mind I still know that my daughter needs in-person learning or her education will greatly suffer, but I just can't stop that nagging parental guilt that resides in my heart. Honestly, I feel like I am sending her to prison school in the interest of doing what is best for her in the long run.

Feeling that way SUCKS, and then I saw this video featured on Good Morning America from a Pediatrician in North Carolina named Dr. Hope Seidel. It was shared by my daughter's school on Facebook, and it was EXACTLY what I needed to hear to stop beating myself up. I hope it does the same for you too...

Stop. Breathe. Listen.

Stop judging other parents or letting their opinions influence yours.

"The decision YOU make is the right decision".

Keep telling yourself that until you believe it. I know I am.
