Congrats to Rick and Doris Kennay and their family. The farming couple from Ashton purchased and rehabilitated the former Hub Theater in Rochelle to become "Illinois largest craft distillery." And they did it!

Their opening night was last night (Thursday March 14) and it was a huge success! WREX details -

The distillery held a ribbon cutting ceremony and a public reception. The distillery will offer tours on Friday and Saturday to celebrate the grand opening. The Kennay family turned the former iconic Hub Theater into a modernized distillery over the past thee years. In October 2018, the family broke ground on another expansion of it’s distillery, called the Rick House which will be used to store it’s homemade product. The Rick House is located just steps away from the former hub theater and will be able to house up to 5,000 barrels of homemade whiskey and bourbon. The close proximity will allow the distilled alcohol to travel through tubes to make it’s way over to the new 16,000 square foot building to be bottled and barreled.
