Teen’s Punishment is to Live in a Tent for Stealing

OK what are your thoughts on this punishment? This teen's punishment for stealing from his parents is to live in a tent in the backyard.

Is this punishment to the extreme or is is it justified?

ABC7 Chicago reports that the Boggus family created this punishment for their son after trying everything else to teach their son it's not right to steal.

Now their son is allowed in the house to sleep at night but during the day he must live and stay with or in the tent. He can use the bathroom in the house as well and his parents are giving him food and water as well.

Me personally, I see nothing wrong the punishment. It's not that harsh at all. Of course living in a tent with no electricity would be hard especially if your teen is completely plugged in with social media and etc.
