Recently the Gallup organization polled hundreds of thousands of Americans in 189 metropolitan areas in the U.S. The survey was based on four indicators:

A: Job satisfaction
B: Whether employees felt they used their strengths at work
C: How employees were treated by their supervisors
D: Whether supervisors created an open and trusting work environment.

According to MSN.com, workers in Rockford metro area rated their supervisors’ ability to create a trusting environment one of worst in the USA. Just 72 percent reported a trusting and open workplace, less than in all but two other metro areas. Also, less than half of all Rockfordians said they felt like they were treated like a partner at work.

Of course, the job market is still very weak in Rockford. Our unemployment rate of 11.5 percent (as of December 2013) remains of the worst nationwide.
