A couple Stateline area residents with strong connections to Louisiana flood victims have stepped up to help friends and communities in need, and they need our help too.

Jodi May, owner of Sugar Britches in Rockton, lived in the town of Denham Springs in Louisiana for 12 years before moving to this area. Many of the people she knew there have lost everything due to the floods, and her husband and father-in-law are there now assisting with the cleanup. To help her Louisiana friends in need, May is currently collecting money and gift cards at her store located at 115 W Main St. in Rockton, and she is calling on her Stateline area friends to join the cause with her.

Obviously everyday necessities are desperately needed for the flooding victims, but so are medical supplies, and that is why one Pecatonica woman has made it her mission to get life saving supplies to those that need them.

I personally want to thank these amazing residents for standing up for those in need, and I urge everyone to do what you can to help make a difference.
