Celebrating St. Patrick's Day in Illinois

Everyone is a wee bit Irish on St. Patrick's Day, primarily because it gives us an excuse to stuff ourselves with green beer, corned beef, and cabbage.

My husband and I used to look forward to heading out to a crowded bar with friends each year on St. Patrick's Day, then we had kids.

These days our St. Paddy's parties involve Shamrock Shakes, making leprechaun traps, and sneakily dying toilet water and milk green, but I still love every minute of it.

St. Patrick's Day celebrations may change as we grow older, but if you really want to switch things up and experience something new this year, check out Disturbia's 'St. Patrick's' Haunted House in Downers Grove, Illinois.

St. Patrick's Haunted House in Illinois

Honestly, I've always been a little weirded out by the thought of tiny, mischievous leprechauns running around on St. Patrick's Day, and this haunted house event from Disturbia is not helping ease my fears.

For two days only, Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14 from 7 to 10 p.m., one of Illinois' favorite haunted houses is hosting a special 'St. Patrick's Haunted House Event':

The devilishly deceiving Leprechauns have been unleashed in Disturbia Haunted House.  You and your friends will be challenged to collect the prized coins, avoid the nasty little creatures hiding behind every corner, and escape with your pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Are you ready to trade shamrocks for screams this year? Grab some friends, wear something green (for luck), and see if you can survive the haunted house.

Reserve your tickets now before they sell out!
