The debate for arming teachers continues but it may have taken a hit after events unfolded in a Georgia high school this afternoon. Will school district 100 reconsider arming their teachers after this?

According to WREX, "police in Georgia say officers have responded to reports of shots fired at a high school and a teacher who may have been barricaded in a classroom is in custody."

This may be the first time I have heard of a teacher firing off shots at school before. No students or faculty were harmed and the school has been evacuated.

This comes as a major debate over arming teachers echoes throughout the country. Does this hurt the argument?

"Police spokesman Bruce Frazier tells The Associated Press that the scene is secure. Police are not immediately saying what happened inside the school."

Specific details about the situation is scarce as well as the identity of the teacher in question. I am just so thankful that no one was injured or killed.

The high school is located in Dalton, Georgia which is about 90 miles north of Atlanta.
