The Stateline loves science and loves it big time! Rockford's Discovery Center Museum just set an incredible attendance record over the last year.

According to a report in the Rockford Register Star, more than 110,000 people — 110,458 to be exact — checked out the science center, a 4.4 percent increase from 2013. This number doesn't even include school field trips and outreach programs.

That's an increase of more than 4% compared to 2013.

Mike Rathbun, associate director of the museum told the Rockford register that last year they were more aggressive with our social media and marketing and that the museum offered new programs and reached new audiences. He added that staff has worked really hard with their outreach programs. It's the combination of those things

Rathburn announced a new exhibit, “The Power of Electricity,” which will generate power using a bicycle. Big things are planned in 2015

People come from all over the midwest to visit the Discovery Center. Children are the primary audience, and the museum has been accessing them through schools, the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts.
