Roscoe Police Bring Suicide Awareness To Light With Special Bracelets
The month of September is known for Suicide Prevention and Awareness and the Roscoe Police Department is bringing it to light with special bracelets.
WREX shares that the Roscoe Police Department is giving special notice to suicide awareness by wearing special bracelets.
The yellow band bracelet are in memory of Tommy Corrall and support the "Tommy Corral Memorial Foundation. Corral, who lived in the area, took his own life back in 2014 after struggling with addiction and depression."
"The black bracelets honor Shatter Our Silence, a group that educates young adults so they can have discussions about depression and suicide."
Sgt. Tom Farone of Roscoe Police said the reason for wearing these bracelets is that "these are very real issues and people do suffer from depression and they do have mental health issues.....and the more people that are aware of these things, the sooner these people can receive help and hopefully avoid doing something tragic to themselves.”
Both bracelets are available for purchase. See their Facebook post below.
Wow! That's pretty powerful. The more we know, the more we can prevent incidents of suicide from happening.
