Bags, or containers should not weigh more than 50 lbs. when loaded, and yard waste cannot be mixed with household garbage or placed in plastic bags. Burning of yard waste is also prohibited in the city limits, according to the press release.

4 things Rockford residents can do to avoid missed pick-ups:

  • Place yard waste at the curb on the same day as regular trash and recycling.
  • Clearly label cans with an "X" to prevent confusion.
  • Ensure all bags and bundles are properly secured and within weight limits.
  • Avoid overfilling bags, as wet leaves and grass can become heavy.
