
Rockford Teens Arrested in Two Separate Gun-Related Incidents Early Sunday
Two separate, unrelated incidents early on Sunday morning led to three teenagers from Rockford being arrested on serious charges.
Juveniles Found with Firearm, Fireworks on Preston Street
According to a press release from the Rockford Police Department, officers responded around 1:10 am on Sunday (7/6) when ShotSpotter alerted of gunfire in the 1200 block of Preston Street on Rockford's west side.
When SCOPE and Patrol officers arrived on the scene, they located three males nearby, two 15-year-olds and a 19-year-old.

One of the 15-year-olds was found carrying fireworks and a loaded handgun, and the other attempted to flee the scene but was detained. The 19-year-old was questioned and later released, according to the Rockford PD report.
Serious Charges for Two 15-Year-Olds
After the Winnebago County State's Attorney's Office got to review the facts of the case, charges were authorized against the two teens:
- 15-year-old Male, Rockford: (Remains Lodged in Juvenile Detention: Reckless Discharge, Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, No Valid FOID, Curfew Violation, Fireworks Violation
- 15-year-old Male, Rockford: (Released to Parents or Guardian) Resisting Arrest
Officers Respond to House Party on Greendale Drive
Just over two hours later, around 3:45 am, Rockford Police were called to the 3400 block of Greendale Drive for a report of a large party.

Reportedly, there was a large crowd gathered outside when officers arrived, and that's when a 17-year-old male exited a vehicle and fled the scene on foot.
Teen Found with Loaded Gun with Extended Magazine
According to the press release, the teen was caught a short distance away carrying a loaded handgun with an extended magazine.
After reviewing this case, the State's Attorney has approved the following charges:
- Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon
- No Valid FOID
- Obstructing
The 17-year-old was lodged in Juvenile Detention after the incident, and multiple juveniles were cited for violating curfew, according to the press release.
