Rockford Police recovered a gun from a city park after a drive-by shooting reportedly left one teenager with a gunshot wound earlier this week.

According to the press release from Rockford PD, officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 1000 block of N. Horsman and upon arrival located a male victim with a gunshot wound to the foot.

The victim was identified as 18-year-old Tahkarieon Bell who told Rockford Police that he had been walking on N. Horsman when a black sedan pulled up and began shooting toward him, striking him in the foot.

The juvenile male who was walking with Bell fled the area after the shooting and according to witnesses, a loaded handgun was discarded as they fled, according to the press release from the Rockford PD.

Police were able to recover the loaded gun in Garfield Avenue Park.

18-year-old Tahkarieon Bell has been charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and obstructing justice, while the 16-year-old juvenile male is charged with aggravated use of a weapon.
