On Monday, April 17, 2017 will once again be holding their interactive "Kites for Kids" event at several places around Rockford.

An anonymous Rockford resident has generously donated hundreds of kites to the Rockford Police Department to give to local children, so they are putting them to good use for all families with kids under the age of 6 at their Kites for Kids event.

The free event will take place on Monday, April 17 from 1 to 3 p.m at several places in the city and local police will be on hand having fun and teachin kids how to fly a kite. Here's the locations Kites for Kids will be happening this year.

Ellis Arts Academy Field, 222 S. Central Avenue
Browns Park, 2010 N. Main Street
Churchill Park, 2184 7th Avenue
Beyer Stadium - 245 15th Avenue
St. Edwards School Playground, 3020 11th Street
Gambino Park - 3140 N. Alpine Road

Last year's event was a huge hit with kids, so here's a look at the fun in store for your family this Monday..

My three-year-old is at the stage where police cars fascinate her, but the officers; not so much. I think events like this are perfect for teaching today's youth that police officers are cool, good guys....as long as we all stay on the right side of the law.
