Even though it feels like Spring outside, there's still some ice skating fun to be had here in Rockford.

Rockford Park District's Carlson Ice Arena is reopening to the public! If your kids have officially done EVERYTHING they can around the house, and in your back yard, why not take them ice skating?

Sure it's March, but let's be honest, I don't think winter is officially over. So that means we can still enjoy our favorite winter activities like ice skating. In classic COVID-19 fashion, there's a new way to go ice skating. WIFR details -

Due to mitigations brought on by COVID-19, reservations must be pre paid, and made up two weeks in advance. Capacity will be limited for each session.

So you have to make your plans in advanced and you pre-pay for your skating session online. But now skate rental is available for no additional charge. Admission is just $7 per person and you can check their availability schedule on their website.

Ice Skating at the Carlson Ice Arena is a blast for the whole family. The Rockford Park District's website details -

Join us for Public Skate at Carlson Ice Arena! Public skate provides a great opportunity for the whole family to get out on the ice together. The music rocks and the mood is friendly, so come out and join the fun!

Here's some more health regulations they have in place -

  • All participants must wear ice or hockey skates while on the ice.

  • Gloves and hats are recommend.

  • Face masks are required to participate in this activity.

  • Please arrive no more than 15 minutes prior to Public Skate

You can make you reservation here.
