A Rockford organization is helping to brighten the holidays for our soldiers who will be away from home, by sending them something special.

Although Christmas isn't for another 48 days, if you're planning on shipping presents you know you need to plan ahead of the holiday rush.

That's exactly why the Sinnissippi Quilters Guild is packing and shipping special Christmas gifts of stockings for our soldiers serving overseas this holiday season.

Chairman, Petra Proskocil, told WIFR that "each stocking is filled with cards, CDs, books and candy. The stockings are a way for them to show their support for our troops."

Last year the quilting group sent out over 1,500 stocking. In the last two days they've packed up 1,200. Wow!

This puts a huge smile on my face.

We need to show our soldiers our care and concern for serving and protecting our country. Sending a piece of holiday cheer is a great way to do it!
