Charges have been filed against an individual who was reportedly involved in a shooting on Tuesday, May 13.

Gunfire Erupts in East Rockford Neighborhood

According to a Rockford PD press release, officers responded to reports of shots being fired just before 9 pm on Tuesday (5/13) in the 4100 block of Newburg Road.

Investigators said that victims seated inside a parked vehicle were suddenly targeted by gunfire from another car. As multiple suspects opened fire, one of the victims returned shots before the suspect vehicle fled the scene.

Even though Rockford Police said the victim's car was riddled with bullets, police confirmed that the gunfire struck no individuals.

Suspect Arrested After Investigation Leads to Loves Park

Following an investigation by the Rockford Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit, detectives identified a man from Loves Park as one of the suspects involved.

25-year-old Tyvionne Horton was located in a vehicle in the 7800 block of Venus Street on Wednesday, June 18, and during the arrest, police recovered a loaded handgun inside the car.

The Winnebago County State's Attorney's Office later authorized two felony counts of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm against Horton, as he remains lodged in the Winnebago County Jail pending further legal proceedings.
