For several years Rockford has been focusing on revitalizing our downtown area to make it a place people want to visit, shop, eat and have fun in, and the hard work is paying off.

People are coming to Downtown Rockford; people are dining and shopping in Downtown Rockford, and now the entire country is taking notice.

Here's just one example from BobVila.com who recently published an article about 17 Downtowns in America that are making a comeback. Want to guess where Rockford came in on the list? At number 2!

So how did Rockford land on the list? Here's why according to BobVila.com;

How do you salvage city pride? By resurrecting and repurposing legacy buildings, thereby revitalizing the face—and spirit—of a downtown. The 20th century manufacturing hub of Rockford, Illinois, once known for its knitting and screw-making industries, is making a comeback thanks to private investment and state-run tax breaks that offer a 25 percent credit for renewal projects that qualify.

That's not the only win Rockford has received in the last few weeks. Here's some more good news Go Rockford posted on Facebook last week;

Be proud of our city, my friends, we earned it. And...if you are not proud, move out. (oops, did I just say that out loud? LOL!)
