815 Day History

I still remember when Rockford 815 Day became a thing thanks to Rockford Art Deli in 2014. (Thank you, RAD!)

What started as a cool t-shirt designed to show our hometown pride has grown into a city-wide celebration of the people, businesses, artists, musicians and places that make the Rockford area special... and I couldn't love it more if I tried.

And this year? There is A LOT going on.

5 Rockford 815 Day Events You Won't Want to Miss

If you've ever wanted to show off this city to friends and family who have never been to Rockford before, this weekend is the perfect time to do it.

I could sit here and list every shopping deal and event happening this weekend in the Rockford area, but honestly, it would take me all day. So, instead I'm going to list five that I have on my radar, and then you can decide for yourself.

1. RockYard Music Fest

This new music fest is the biggest new addition for 2026, and I'm pretty excited about it.

RockYard Music Fest will take over Davis Park on Friday and Saturday, August 14-15. It is free to attend, and will feature not only live music, but food, drinks, local vendors, games, family activities, fireworks, and a drone show too.  (FYI, there will also be a Pancake Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday from 7 to 9:30 a.m. in Davis Park!)

2. 815 Day at Rockford Art Deli

Rockford Art Deli is going all-out Saturday for its 815 Day celebration. From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. a block party will take over North First Street featuring local vendors, sweets, food, coffee, a mobile bookstore and even an IceHogs portable hockey rink.

Of course, they will also be offering live prints of this year's 815 Day design for $8.15.

3. Midtown 815 Day Celebration & 5K

The Midtown 815 Day 5K is happening Saturday and welcomes runners and walkers of all paces. It's part of the larger Midtown 815 Day Celebration, which includes community, music, food, beverages, vendors and plenty of hometown fun.

4. 815 Day on the Farm at Lockwood Park

815 Day at Lockwood Park happens Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with free admission to the park and discounted activities for kids for, you guessed it, $8.15.

5. CharmQuest 815

CharmQuest 815 officially begins on August 15, and it's basically a giant Rockford-themed treasure hunt. You get to explore the city, search for hidden pieces and maybe go home with a cool handmade keepsake.

Guys, these five events are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to live music, food, shopping, family activities and hometown adventure happening in the Rockford area this weekend.

Make sure to check out the full list of events at gorockford.com and celebrate just how much there is to love about this place.

Happy 815 Day, Rockford!
