Rockford Police Investigating 3 Different Weekend Shootings
It was a violent weekend in parts of Rockford with several people allegedly being shot in different areas of the city.
According to a press release from the City of Rockford Police Department, multiple shootings from this past weekend are actively being investigated by RPD detectives.
Rockford Man Shot In the Face on Friday Night
Around 8:30 pm on Friday, officers pulled over a vehicle in the area of Winnebago and Whitman Streets after being advised that a 23-year-old male gunshot victim was being transported to a hospital in Rockford.
Officers located the shooting victim in the vehicle suffering from wounds to his face and shoulder / chest area and immedately transported him to a local hospital via ambulance, according to the press release.
When RPD interviewed witnesses of the incident, there were conflicting reports on where the shooting took place and the suspect description.
Man Shot While Walking in Rockford Early Sunday Morning
A Rockford man says he was shot in the leg while walking just after midnight on Sunday morning (2/11).
According to the press release, Rockford Police was notified after a shooting victim walked into a local hospital around 12:35 am Sunday reporting he suffered the injury near Lincoln and Island Avenues.
24-Year Old Shot Multiple Times While Exiting a Rockford Gas Station
Just before 5 am on Sunday morning, Rockford Police responded to a local hospital when a man walked in with multiple gunshot wound.
According to the press release, a 24-year old man was leaving a gas station at 430 Harrison Avenue and walking to his vehicle when he was fired upon. He suffered a gunshot wound to the leg, and two to the upper chest.
Rockford Police say the man's gunshot injuries are "non-life-threatening."
