The brave men and women of the Rockford Fire Department work hard every day to save lives, and yesterday they proved that every life, no matter how small or furry, gets the same attention.

While on the scene of a house fire on the 600 Block of N Second Street, the second home fire crews had fought that afternoon, firefighters rescued a cat from the blaze. It was not breathing, and that is when the medic crew got to work.

Rockford Fire Department protecting us each and every day.

What makes this story even better? The medic crews' hard work payed off. A few hours later Rockford Fire tweeted;

The cat was resuscitated using a special oxygen mask provided as a grant from . It was transported by the owner to an emergency veterinarian.'

Thank you, Rockford Fire for everything you do and for caring as much about the things we love as we do.
