
Elderly Rockford Woman Robbed, Injured by 21-Year-Old
Rockford Police have arrested a 21-year-old man who is accused of violently robbing an elderly woman outside of a Rockford bank.

According to a press release from the Rockford Police Department, officers responded to the Chase Bank at 6601 East State Street around 1:13 pm last Thursday (8/8) for reports of a robbery in the parking lot.

Investigators say the robbery victim was an 81-year-old woman who had reportedly just exited the bank when she was approached by a male suspect.
Rockford Police say the man allegedly grabbed the woman's purse, which was strapped across her body, and dragged her on the ground until the strap broke.
The man then fled the scene on foot with the purse, according to the RPD press release.
Arrest and Charges
Rockford Police identified the suspect as 21-year-old Jerryah McDonald, and detectives were able to locate and arrest him on Wednesday morning (8/14). He was booked into the Winnebago County Jail.
Following a review of the case, the Winnebago County State's Attorney's Office has authorized charges of Aggravated Battery (Victim 60+) and Robbery. Additional charges may follow, according to the report.
