Just in case you may have forgotten, the head of the Catholic Church is not a Cubs fan.
You can take the guy out of Chicago, but you can't take the Chicago out of the guy, even when it comes to taking a slight dig at a rival of his favorite team.

A South Side Pope With Strong White Sox Roots
Pope Leo XIV is a south side guy and lifelong Chicago White Sox fan, and since that's the case, he couldn't resist making one small mention of the demise of my beloved Cubs this week during an appearance at the Vatican.
The Viral “Go Cubs” Moment at the Vatican
In case you missed the video, someone in the crowd shouted "Go Cubs!" to His Holiness, and without missing a beat, he smiled, waved, and said "Han perdido." Translated, that means "They lost."

Even the Pope Keeps Up With Baseball
I mean, as much as I'd like to be upset, they lost. The Cubs got bounced out of the postseason by the Brewers just days earlier. At least we know he's keeping up. Meanwhile, his White Sox have been out of contention since before the season began, but I'm sure they appreciate their still getting support from Rome's highest office.

Maybe in a week or two, we can check back in with the Pope to get his thoughts on the Brewers getting eliminated. As a sad Cubs fan, that's all I've got left. I just want to see the Brewers lose.
