A "charity" is claiming to have a partnership with Lou Bachrodt Auto Mall to help veterans. Here's what you need to know.

George Schaffner, general manager of Lou Bachrodt Auto Mall, is one of Rockford's charitable organizers and isn't letting a bunch of scammers tarnish that image.

According to WREX, the Michigan based company has been calling Lou Bachrodt Auto Mall customers and asking for money to help veterans.

The group, Foundation for American Veterans, has a forceful approach to callers demanding money. Needless to say, they have a BBB complaints and a bad rating on charitywatch.org.

Schaffner says they do not have a partnership with Foundation for American Veterans. He says the number that comes up on caller ID is 815-255-8090 and it says "Lou Bachrodt VW." He says when they have called the number back, no one answers.

Be warned. Don't answer a number you don't recognize. If it's important you will get a voice mail or text.

There is an event coming up at Lou Bachrodt Auto Mall that you should know about, though.
