If you recently purchased Outshine Fruit Bars in Illinois, you’re going to want to read this before you give one to your kids... or yourself.

Healthy Treats For Kids

My two daughters have major sweet tooths (they get it from Mom), so I'm always looking for treats they will actually eat that are a healthier choice. Frozen fruit bars are usually an easy win in my house, especially when the kids are begging for something sweet and I’d rather not hand them another cookie.

As parents, we have enough to worry about in regards to the food we serve our kids. From bad dyes to over-processing, a trip to the grocery store can be super frustrating, but the one thing I never expected to worry about is glass shards being inside the foods my kids eat!

The recall affects five flavors: Strawberry, Watermelon, Grape, Tangerine and Black Cherry, and the affected products were sold in six-count boxes and distributed to nationwide, so there's a darn good chance they made it onto Illinois grocery shelves too.

Here's a little bit of good news: not every Outshine product is part of the recall.

Dreyer’s says the recall is limited to specific batches, in the five flavors shown above. Strawberry, Watermelon, Grape, Tangerine, and Black Cherry) If you have these fruit bars at home, check the bottom of the box for the UPC and batch information to see whether yours is included. Some of the affected products have best-before dates in 2027.

According to the recall notice:

No illnesses or injuries have been reported to date. Anyone concerned about an injury should contact a healthcare provider immediately. Consumers who have purchased the affected product should dispose of it or return it to their place of purchase for a full refund.

Still, as a mom, “possible glass in the popsicle” is definitely not something I want to take a chance on. I’ll be checking my freezer, and I recommend you do the same!
