In my house Santa always brings the one gift that my kids want the most each Christmas. Luckily, it has never been the biggest ticket item, because what the social worker is talking in this post is seriously something I have never thought of...until now.

Every holiday season I think about the kids who don't receive gifts on Christmas morning and the sadness they must feel upon returning to school and hearing their classmates brag about all the cool stuff they got. Sadly, I've never really considered how much the gifts from Santa, (or lack there of), can really effect a child's self esteem.

If your child is asking for a big ticket item from Santa this year, maybe you should give it to them from YOU and just tell them Santa told you they really deserved and wanted it, but his elves couldn't make it? Just a thought...
