Here's the truth, I have not been to the new Costco on Riverside yet.  Why? Because not long ago I renewed my Sam's Club membership, and I'm too cheap to pay for both.

This is not going to be a discussion about the differences/pros/cons of Costco and Sam's, but more importantly about one of the things they have in common, their funky square milk gallon jugs.

Why do bulk shopping stores need to have milk jugs that look like this? Is it because more of them can pack into a cooler? It's not like they hold more.

So why are customers lighting up social media about buying milk at Costco? Because these jugs make pouring milk into a glass without spilling next to impossible. Again I ask, if shoppers are complaining, why are Costco and Sam's still using these jugs? Here's the answer I found on nytimes.com;

The jugs are cheaper to ship and better for the environment, the milk is fresher when it arrives in stores, and it costs less.

Those reasons seem valid enough, but I still don't like those milk jugs and I never, ever will. How do you feel?
