Just south of Rockford is one of Illinois' biggest drive-thru holiday lights displays.

Maybe it's because of the craziness of 2020, but I was really excited to put up our Christmas decorations this year. I haven't been this into it since was daughter was little and all about Santa. I've been wanting to do it for a couple of weeks now, but my family made me wait because it's our tradition to do it over Thanksgiving weekend. Well, we finally got it done on Saturday. It was a family affair and we had a good time doing it. We even put up more outside than in the past.

It's been fun driving around town checking out everyone's displays. There are so many awesome ones to see this season. Of course, I'm counting down the days until I can go experience the Festival of Lights at Sinnissippi Park in Rockford.

Since there are so many traditional events and festivities canceled, I think my goal is to hit as many drive-thru displays as possible. They are safely socially distanced, so I believe it's a good way to celebrate. Unfortunately, there aren't a bunch in Rockford but there are plenty not too far away. It just means grabbing the family and taking a little road trip. It's time to pack up the car with snacks and Christmas music.

Here's a new one I just found out about. It's one of the biggest in Illinois and just south of Rockford.

According to newstrib.com,

"The sun sets over the Celebration of Lights annual display at Rotary Park in La Salle. The park has more than 300 themed Christmas displays. This year a new 1/4 addition was built to feature even more lights. The Celebration of Lights is open from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday."

Sounds like a fun family holiday adventure.
