If you live in Ogle County and are interesting in becoming a volunteer during times of emergency  then you don't want to miss the informational meeting this week.

The Ogle County health Department Ogle County Emergency Management will be holding a meeting this Thursday, July 23rd for county residents interested in becoming volunteers.

The meeting, according to WIFR, will be held at First Baptist Church of Rochelle located at 810 Woolf Court in Rochelle, from 6:30pm- 8pm. Information will be presented about volunteering in the area of emergency preparedness and response, an area that can improve response capabilities in times of public emergencies. All interested community members are encouraged to attend this meeting and to fill out the volunteer application.

When a disaster hits, just as it did on April 9th, "fear can be overwhelming, not because there are not enough resources, but because people do not know how to access those resources, according to studies by FEMA’s." Becoming a member of the Ogle County Volunteer Corps, you will be trained in how and where to access those resources and how to help in many different capacities in times of need."

For more information on emergency preparedness and response, contact Joanie Padilla at the Ogle County Health Department by calling 815-732-7330 extension 279.
