But when you start digging deeper, you will see that severe storms are a real possibility for Northern Illinois on Friday:
As we head into Saturday afternoon, things should calm down a bit with highs expected in the 60s and 70s, but then comes the classic Midwest weather plot twist.
Is More Snow Ahead for Northern Illinois?
Remember back in November when this area saw around 24 inches of snow, and then winter officially began and the snow disappeared?
After getting a taste of near-record warmth over the next few days, temperatures are expected to drop back down again later next week. Overnight lows could tumble into the 30s, reminding everyone that winter hasn’t fully packed its bags just yet.
According to the Rockford Register Star, National Weather Service Meteorologist Kevin Birk said:
Whether we get any big snows or anything like that, that's yet to be determined, but I would gather that we would see at least some more snow this season yet.
