One of the most overlooked aspects of living in Rockford is the ease of getting to Chicago. The Windy City has some of the best food on the planet, not just in America.
And while the food in Rockford is pretty darn standout, it's hard to compete with some of the culinary wonders that come out of Chicago. That's why I'm glad it's about an hour to 75 minutes away if you want to make a night or weekend out of a food trip. Based on what I saw from OpenTable just recently, it seems like one needs to be made soon.

These are the most booked restaurants in all of Illinois, and yes, they are all in Chicago.
The Walnut Room in Chicago's Downtown/Loop
The Walnut Room, located on the 7th floor of Macy's on State Street, is the most booked restaurant in Illinois, boasting a 4.8 out of 5 rating from a massive 7,800 reviews.
Jennifer says, "There's a ton of history there, so it's a great place to experience," when talking about The Walnut Room.
Pizzeria Portofino in Chicago's River North neighborhood
Pizzeria Portofino is located in the River North area, the second most booked, and it scores a 4.8 out of 5 on fewer than 2,500 reviews.
Melania says Pizzeria Portofino has "beautiful views, and (the) food is amazing."
Summer House in Lincoln Park in Chicago
Summer House in Lincoln Park is ranked third for the most bookings, just behind the top two, with a 4.7 overall score and nearly 8,500 reviews.
Rebecca says Summer House has a "really great vibe and service."

Aba Restaurant is located in the West Loop in Chicago
Aba is located in the West Loop neighborhood in Chicago, ranked 4th in booking, and has an overall rating of 4.7 out of 5, based on 3200 reviews.
Sebastian says they have "absolutely amazing food and service" at Aba.
Gibsons Italia is in Chicago's River North neighborhood
Gibsons Italia, also in the River North neighborhood of Chicago, makes the list and ranks as the 5th most booked in the state, scoring a stellar 4.8 out of 5 with nearly 5000 reviews.
Jack says they were "taken great care of and the food was delicious" at Gibsons Italia.
All of these restaurants are super difficult to get into, and while I haven't thought about trying to eat at all of these places, the FOMO is making me want to make reservations for whenever I can get in.
