Make Mom These Apple Pie Roses
With Mother's Day on Sunday, here's a neat way to give Mom roses and a treat at the same time.
Make these Apple Pie Roses.
It looks difficult but it isn't, and I might add they are quiet tasty too.
Perfect to make for mom for breakfast, brunch or even as an afternoon treat with coffee or tea.
2 Apples cored and thinly sliced (use your favorite apple. I used Jonathan.)
2 Puffed Pasty Sheets, thawed (I used Pepperidge Farms)
Cinnamon
Sugar
1/2 a Lemon
Bowl of Water
Directions:
Core and thinly slice your apples.
Squeeze the 1/2 lemon into a bowl fill with water, then put apples in the bowl. Microwave the apples in lemon water for 3 minutes. Then drain.
Flour your counter or cutting board. Roll out the pastry sheets to a thinner shape. cut into strips.
Line the top of the pastry sheet with apples. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
Fold the pastry sheet. Then take one end and roll up.
Place in greased muffin tin.
Bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes.
Once baked, remove form oven and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. Let them cool and serve while warm.
* I used a cinnamon sugar mix, instead of sprinkling on two separate spices.
Also, I though what make this supper tasty would be to add a layer of apple butter to the pastry before folding and rolling up.
These treats are perfect for mother's day or if you have any bridal or baby showers coming up, I think these would work well too. Plus they give that extra glamorous pizzazz to the party.
