The Village Board says all Machesney Park residents need to stop burning their yard waste.

The emergency suspension of yard waste burning goes into effect Monday, April 13 and goes until April 30.

The coronavirus is to blame. The virus causes respiratory problems and the burning piles can have a very negative effect.

Officials are also urging you to closely monitor the size of any recreational campfires so they won't impact any nearby neighbors.

It's not known, at this time, if the suspension will be lifted in the month of May.
