Trolley Weekend will highlight the electric railroads that once blanketed the Chicago area. Dozen of antique streetcars, interurban cars, and elevated railway cars will be providing rides to attendees.
During Trolley Weekend 2021, visitors will have the opportunity to be engineer of the museum's biggest electric cars, the double-deck "Highliner" MU cars from the Metra Electric line. For just $10 you can operate a train of these cars at IRM.
Can you say a train lovers dream weekend?!? All of Illinois Railway Museum's electric, diesel and steam trains will also be operating during Trolley Weekend, so your family will have plenty of things to ooh and aah over.
General admission to Illinois Railway Museum is $15 for adults, $13 for senior citizens, and $11 for kids, and there is an additional charge of $10 to drive the trolley. Buy general admission tickets in advance at irm.org.
