Only One Illinois City Cracks America’s 50 Happiest

If you’re saying “not really,” that might explain why only one Illinois city landed on WalletHub’s list of America’s happiest cities.

How WalletHub Ranked America's Happiest Cities
WalletHub ranked cities across three categories: emotional and physical well-being, income and employment, and community and environment.
Fremont, California, took the top spot, followed by Bismarck, North Dakota, and then Scottsdale, Arizona, rounding out the three happiest cities in America.
Madison and Aurora Rank Among America's Happiest Cities
Madison, Wisconsin, ranked 12th nationally and many spots ahead of Illinois’ only top-50 city, Aurora, which landed in the 35th spot.
Chicago landed way down at 83rd, which is a bit surprising considering how often the Windy City seems to show up near the top of these national rankings. Happiness, apparently, is another story.

Does Sunshine Make People Happier?
Arizona and California dominated the top of the rankings more than any other states.
Besides the three categories WalletHub listed, do you think the sunshine might have something to do with it? WalletHub didn't include sunshine as one of its three categories, but after another Illinois winter, you have to wonder if maybe it should.
