
Rockford Man Arrested After Running From Police, Found with Suspected Cocaine
A man from Rockford was taken into custody on Monday evening (3/17) after he attempted to run from police, according to the report.
Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest
Around 6:20 pm on Tuesday evening, March 17, officers from the Rockford PD SCOPE team attempted a traffic stop in the 3100 block of N. Rockton Avenue.

According to the press release, this vehicle had previously fled from police officers, and when they attempted another traffic stop, the vehicle drove away again and struck the front of a Rockford PD squad car.
Suspect in Custody
The driver was identified as Montell Montgomery, a 33-year-old from Rockford who was taken to Rockford Police District 1. When Montgomery arrived, he attempted to conceal more than 28 grams of what is believed to be crack cocaine.

He was taken to a local hospital for evaluation before being transported to the Winnebago County Jail.
Charges Filed
After reviewing the case details, the Winnebago County State's Attorney's Office authorized multiple charges against Montell Montgomery, including:
- Aggravated Fleeing
- Obstructing Justice
- Criminal Damage
- Possession with Intent to Deliver
