Names of Victims & Suspect Released in Rockford Fatal Stabbing

On Wednesday, March 27th, 2024, 4 were killed and 7 were wounded in Rockford after being stabbed.

The individuals lost have been identified as Jenna Newcomb (15); Ramona Schupbach (63;) Jay Larson (49); and Jacob Schupbach (22,) according to local police.

According to NBC Chicago, a 22-year-old male suspect by the name of Christian Soto has been arrested and is in custody at this time. Soto has been charged with multiple accounts of first-degree murder and attempt of first-degree murder and home invasion with a dangerous weapon.

Reports for medical aid came in at 1:14 p.m., followed by a series of other calls to the Rockford police department. The events occurred after a woman, Lind Craig, fled a home invasion but was stabbed in her face and hands. She was taken to the hospital and intubated. The good Samaritan, Keith Fahrey, who tried to help the woman suffered stab wounds but is stable and being evaluated.

The crimes occurred after Soto broke into Ramona and Jacob Schupbachs' (who'd been friends with Soto for a long time) home.
