Glamping vs. Camping

To some, camping is awesome, but I love glamping because it lets you experience the beauty of nature with a serious comfort upgrade. I like to have my outdoor fun, then take a shower with running water and lay down in an actual bed under a roof that won't collapse or leak if it rains.

Some may say; "rent a cabin in the woods then", which is a very valid point, BUT sometimes an indoor girl needs to feel like a true outdoor girl...with limits.

Illinois has some seriously awesome glamping sites to stay at that feature luxurious domes, yurts, tiny houses, and more to stay in, but I've only seen one that lets you spend the night in a old school bus that has been completely tricked out!

Glamping School Bus Airbnb in Illinois

This cozy school bus Airbnb is located in Golconda, Illinois on a working farm in the heart of the Shawnee National Forest. It has lake views, sits near a forest, has a secluded patio and fire pit to enjoy, has solar-powered electricity, yet you will still feel like you are "one" with nature.

The bus has one bed and a couch to sleep on, a kitchen with a sink and two-plate burner (and a coffee maker), a window AC unit, space heater for chilly nights, BUT the one thing it doesn't have is a bathroom with hot water.

The Airbnb listing says;

There is no toilet inside the bus. We provide a very nice outhouse, with hand-washing sink and water. It's a short walk to the upscale outhouse. There is an outdoor cool-water shower house available for your use....no hot water.

If the no-hot-water situation isn't enough to scare you off, just know this listing has rave reviews!
