Pollen is the tool of the devil. I know it brings life to the earth but it makes us with pollen allergies feel like death. With the pollen count going up in Iowa and Illinois, people who suffer from the allergy find it hard to do anything. Trust me.

With spring in full swing, we've come up with 10 ways for Quad Citizens with pollen allergies to not feel like hell anymore. They are simple tricks you can follow almost daily.

If you're tired of red eyes, runny noses, and sneezing 32 times in a row at Hy-Vee, make sure you save these 10 tricks to fight off allergies.

Iowa & Illinois Have A High Pollen Count

Most of us just follow the weather, but those with pollen allergies keep a close eye on the pollen count during the spring and summer.

The Weather Channel says that there are three worst offenders when it comes to producing pollen people are allergic to:

  • Tree Pollen
  • Grass Pollen
  • Ragweed Pollen

Right now, tree pollen is the worst and this weekend the Quad Cities are expected to get to a very high level of it.

Air Quality & Smoke Don't Help Either

If you've looked up at the sky over Iowa and Illinois' you've noticed a sort of haze to it. That's because wildfires in Canada are burning like crazy and those jetstreams are pushing everything our way.

AirNow has a cool map showing where smoke is the heaviest in the U.S., air quality, and where active fires are at. But those two factors also contribute to pollen allergies being terrible.

How To Fight Pollen Allergies

One of my other go-to remedies is to use a Neti Pot. I normally use it in the shower because if you've ever used a Neti Pot, you know how disgusting you can look and the process can be. A Neti Pot is also a very natural way to clear out your sinuses.

But what are other ways to defeat those pesky seasonal allergies? I hate being miserable just like the next person with seasonal allergies. I checked with WedMB (don't look up anything else on there because chances are you're dying somehow) to see what they recommend. A lot of what they recommend is super easy to do, and most are just healthy practices in general.

As a fellow pollen allergy victim, I found the 10 best ways to beat them and created a gallery to help you and others who deal with them. Check out the list below.

10 Ways To Beat Pollen Allergies

Those who struggle with pollen allergies know the struggle can be real. Runny noses, watery eyes, and pure misery are just some of the things that come with pollen allergies. Whether it's fall or spring in the Quad Cities, these 10 remedies can help combat those allergies and make you feel a lot better.
