Fall weather in Missouri has already been a bit unusual in 2023. The temperatures have been very mild so far with only a couple of brief cooldowns. The date of this writing the high is expected to be back into the upper 70's, but it won't last long.

Farmer's Almanac says that the first frost date for the St. Louis, Missouri and Cahokia, Illinois area is coming.

According to Farmer's Almanac, it's October 22 when we can typically expect the first day of freezing temperatures in Fall.

This year appears to be quite different. I was looking at Accuweather's extended forecast for the Hannibal, Missouri/Quincy, Illinois area and while there are a few days later in October that temps might get down into the 40's, it doesn't appear the lows will dip down to near the freezing mark until sometime in November. That's a late arrival of the first freezing date if it's accurate.

Since this is the weather we're talking about, it's constantly changeable. But, for now, it appears the first freezing date won't happen until most families are looking for a turkey for Thanksgiving. I have no problem with that at all. We'll see if that prediction comes true.
