Illinois has been under a stay-at-home order since March 21, 2020, and as we approach a month of this our bodies and minds are beginning to adjust to this new normal. Experts say some of us will struggle to readjust when the world reopens, which totally makes sense.

Even though I'm a slight germophobe I don't have a big bubble in social circumstances, that is until COVID-19 and the associated 6-foot social distancing practice. I'm to the point where if I have to go to the grocery store I subconsciously keep my distance. If you know me, you know I love talking to people everywhere I go, but I'm learning to keep to myself in public places. I'm confident I will be able to quickly readjust to my old ways but you might be the same. This is no fault of your own because it's a mental thing and we all should be well aware of mental struggles. If anything, learning how we're all dealing with this should also lessen the stigma of mental illnesses, no matter to what degree the struggle is. This is exactly why it will be a challenge for some to readjust so social interaction, according to WRSP.

Anxiety, depression, just the stress alone wreaks havoc on the body and emotionally, it’s hard to move forward when the brain is such a powerful force.

This is why it’s important to be patient with people who may have a harder time returning to their normal routine.
