According to this new survey that ranks the 'Top 100 Best Small Towns in the United States', a small town is fewer than 10,000 residents.

Using that metric then neither Rockford (146k), Roscoe (10,632), nor Freeport (23k) are small towns.

Wisconsin Has 3 Small Towns Ranked in Top 50 'Best in U.S.'

Not only can the Dairy State brag that they have 3 of the Top 50 Best Small Towns in America, but they also have the #3 BEST in the U.S. on the list.

According to Far and Wide, the #45 Best Small Town in the U.S. is Mineral Point, Wisconsin (pop. 2,581). 

The #41 Best Small Town in America is Hayward, Wisconsin (pop. 2,302).

America's #3 Best Small Town has only 65 residents according to the latest census and is Stockholm, Wisconsin.

Stockholm was named so for a reason — the town has a deep Sweedish heritage that it still takes pride in. From its food to its architecture, this beautiful tiny town displays its roots with gusto.

What's the 1 Small Town in Illinois on the U.S. Best List?

While Illinois didn't have a single small town in the top 50, it won't be a big surprise that Galena, Illinois (pop. 3,308) was the one that made Far and Wide's list at #55

History buffs love visiting to admire the town’s beautiful architecture and romantic views of the Mississippi River. But Galena is not just a blast from the past; it also has art galleries, local breweries and great skiing in the winter.
