Over the past couple of weeks, It's hard to know what weather you'll wake up to in the Stateline area with a taste of snow and tornadoes on the same day.

It's Supposed to Be Spring, But We're in Third Winter

As of this past Thursday (3/20), we are officially in the Spring season, but in northern Illinois, we have 10 seasons and are currently at the end of Third Winter.

This weekend will be another weather rollercoaster with some sun, some rain, and the chance of more snow.

According to the National Weather Service forecast for the Rockford region, Saturday (3/22) will be the best weather day of the weekend with mostly sunny skies expected and highs in the upper 40s.

Winter Storm Warning for Parts of Wisconsin

According to the National Weather Service, 4 to 6 inches of snow is possible for the northern part of Wisconsin, including Wausau and Rheinlander, through early Monday morning (3/24).

With this weather system, there will likely be more rain in the southern part of the state around Janesville, but some light show showers could still arrive overnight Sunday into Monday morning, according to the latest forecast from the NWS.

More Rain is Expected Early Sunday, and Then Flurries Possible

Saturday night should be dry until after midnight when there's a chance of rain.

The current forecast predicts showers mainly after 4 a.m. Sunday (3/23), and then rain continues through early afternoon Sunday when the high is expected to be in the mid-50s.

Sunday night there's a slight chance of rain before 1am, and then a chance of snow showers in the Rockford area into early Monday morning (3/24), according to the latest from the NWS.

No significant snow accumulation is expected with the high in the mid-40s by Monday afternoon.

More Snow into April for Rockford region?

While it's still over a week away, there's still more snow in Rockford's extended forecast from the Weather Channel.

According to the Weather Channel's latest predictions, on the last day of March, there's about a 25 percent chance of snow developing late on March 31, with flurries continuing into April 1. And this is NOT an April Fools Joke.
